Every building has a story to tell.

Historical research.

As a historian, I seek to uncover how buildings and plans shape the way we live. My research has spanned multiple continents, including the United States, Europe, and Africa, and has also encompassed multiple scales, from the small vernacular structure to the plan of the city. I have worked extensively with both physical and digital archives, and have also documented many sites through drawing and photography.

Writing and editing.

Words are the critical building blocks of architectural stories. I write about architecture in a variety of ways, from study reports to book chapters, articles, and encyclopedia entries. I also edit a variety of architecture- and planning-related projects, including scholarly manuscripts and articles, technical reports, and instructional materials.

Web design/content.

A web presence is crucial for architecture firms, historic sites, community projects, and anyone who wants to be findable to others. I have created and currently manage several websites on platforms that include Squarespace, Wordpress, and Drupal. These sites incorporate a variety of features and functions, including newsletter sign-ups, blogs, and online payment systems.

Education and outreach.

Helping others learn is not only about sharing information, but about conveying why it matters. I have a background in teaching at the university level, where I specialize in architecture history, urban planning history, cultural landscapes, and research methods. I enjoy sparking a passion for architecture history in others.
